But Gail we don't have a hurricane here ...

Oh I am so disappointed today.

Gail had promised me that we would be going for another hill walk.  I had been hoping to bag my third Munro.

And now she's saying that maybe we'll just have a short outing to the nearby woods instead 'cos it's too windy.

What kind of a wimp is she?  I mean, there's all my blog friends battening down the hatches in the Eastern USA, where they are experiencing a properly terrifying and dangerous hurricane, and my wings are being clipped in the face of some normal Scottish August weather.

Look, I've found the Met Office mountain forecast for our area for today. It's not that bad:

Can you see (you may have to biggify) it says "No risk of strong sunlight". So what are you worrying about then Gail? That pale freckly skin of yours won't be going all pink today will it?

Oh this is boring. Why isn't everyone an optimist like me?

To all my friends confined to barracks in the face of Irene, I totally empathise.

  1. Bertie..its really windy with us here in the NE as well. So maybe Gail is right... it's gonna be difficult keeping yer paws on the ground today.

We are finking of our friends with Hurrican Irene. Hope they all stay safe.

    Have a good weekend.

  4. Oh Bertie I hate to say this buddy but I think that just this ONE time Gail MAY be correct.

I mean you really don't want to go flying right? Just a walk or run. So I think you are best off hangin at home. Sorry bud.

  5. While we're not having anything as poor as your weather today Bertie we did comment that it almost looked as windy here as it did where the reporters were in New York!
Hope the rain stops for you soon and that Bertie can be freed from his Gail imposed prison cell (also known as home).

  6. Moms can be such wimps! Irene gave us a little wind and a bit of rain and she made us all stay in ALL day! What's the deal? We go swimming all the time and get wet! There's just no reasoning with some people, eh?

  7. We notice that there is also a high risk of gales... So you've got them outside and inside. Really Bertie, do you want to be walking in 75 MPH winds with gusts of 100?? You could get blown all the way to southern California if you aren't careful!! Just nap. It'll pass, buddy...

  9. This does sound a bit unfair. Extra treats & a rasher of peanut butter are in order for you, Bertie.

  10. So, Bertie you describe yourself as an optimist wanting to walk in all that nasty red weather. . .lets try lunatic, instead, I think that might be more fitting. You are most lucky you have Gail with her good judgement to lead the way.

    Kisses,
    Stella

  11. Bertie we think it is always best to err on the side of caution, we just don't want you being blown off your furry paws.

  12. It's possible that Gail doesn't want you flying over to New York. Terriers are confident that they can do anything but sometimes human caution has to prevail.

  13. Love the no risk of Strong sunlight!

Noticed in the US, they have partly sunny days where in Oz we have partly cloudy days....all in the way you look at it.

Bertie, there could be a chance of you blowing away, so maybe the shorter walk is better.

  16. Goodness Bertie - it's a good thing you have Gail watching over you. That nasty hurricane came roaring up to us today and the tiny little Pip almost got blown into the next yard when she was trying to wee outside! All is almost back to normal tonight. Da mum won't have to worry so much for our bedtime wee. Whew!

  17. BOL! Oh Bertie, you crack us up! You really should be nicer to your poor Gail. the Mama says that it is just terrible to be all pale and peeling. We are terribly sorry that a little weather got in the way of your plan though. That is just awful!
